Kamran Akmal is a right handed attacking opening batsman and wicket keeper of Pakistan. He played several match winning innings for Pakistan. Although he is under criticism for poor wicket keeping but at the same time his batting ability is good in comparison to other Pakistani wicket keepers and up to the standard. His most famous innings as a batsman was against India in 2^nd test match at Kolkata and because of his innings Pakistan was able to save the test match.

You can compare the height of Kamran Akmal and Gautam Gambhir both of the players has almost same height.

He keeps wickets for Pakistan but his performance as a wicket keeper is always in criticism. Especially in the test match against Australia where he dropped several catches and missed run out that eventually helped Australia to win the test match. His is not tallest a player but his height did not affect his performance in batting or wicket keeping. His hand to eye combination is excellent and he uses it in his batting very well while he is batting. Although his reflexes or keeping technique has some faults but it can be corrected if he focus on them.

Kamran Akmal is under scrutiny because of match fixing through his career. He seems to be doing deliberately or by mistakes some acts that caught the attention of critics some way or another. These different kinds of acts were come under discussion heavily when Pakistan tour Australia. He dropped catches on regular basis and at time missed very important run out that changed the course of the match in favor of Australia.

Pakistan was favorite to win the Sydney test match after the situation that were developed because of the magnificent performance of Pakistan but poor wicket keeping of Kamran Akmal ruin everything from Pakistan’s point of view and Pakistan lost the match. In that match Kamran dropped catches as well as missed a very crucial and important run out at that time when Australia were 6 wickets down and a wicket at that point can be very helpful in the victory of Pakistan. When Kamran collected the ball batsmen was clearly not made it but he didn’t hit the wicket and just assume that the ball will directly hit the stump. Kamran Akmal’s poor performance as a wicket keeper is seemed to be the main cause of his absent from the national team. He dropped catches on many occasions in consistent basis that cause great deal of damage for Pakistan. Many occasions he dropped the same player twice in a single over that demoralize the bowler as well as other members of the team and in the mean time helped the batsmen to compile stockpiles of runs. In World Cup 2011 against New Zealand Kamran dropped Ross Tayler twice in an over and in return Tayler made a century and Pakistan lost a match. Similarly last year he missed the run out against Australia that cause Pakistan a test match. Selectors gave him many chances but he failed to capitalize on them and one way or another he did not avail them. As a result he has been dropped from the national team and selectors gave chance to other young wicket keepers who perform well in the domestic session of Pakistan.

Kamran Akmal and Umar Akmal are brothers and explosive batsmen play for Pakistan Cricket team. Kamran Akmal was born in Lahore in 1982 and wicket keeper batsman. He received international cap from Pakistan and debut in 2002 after which he played 53 test matches, 137 One Day International and 38 T20 matches for Pakistan before he was dropped from West Indies tour because of his poor performance in term of wicket keeping in World cup 2011. His batting was come into lime light in 2005’s Pakistan tour of India. He and Razzaq save the test match at Mohali by batting almost three sessions and give the lead of 192 runs with one session left for the test match. At one point of time Pakistan lost 6 wickets with the lead of just 48 runs and then Akmal and Razzaq setup a partnership that gives Pakistan a chance to draw the test match when they almost on the brink of losing. In that innings Kamran Akmal made his maiden test century and score 109 runs and Razzaq scored 71 runs.

After that innings he is played several other excellent innings on different occasion for Pakistan and become regular opener in One Day International side of Pakistan. Umar Akmal born was in 1990 in Lahore and start playing International Cricket form Pakistan side in August, 2009. Umar played 13 test matches, 41 One Day Internationals and 22 T20 matches for Pakistan. He score century and made 129 runs in his first innings against New Zealand in New Zealand and proved his selection for national team is right.

If we compare both the players in my opinion Umar Akmal is a more compact and dashing batman with good selection and variety of shots in his inventory then Kamran Akmal. Kamran Akmal also has issues with his wicket keeping and his poor performance in that that also put extra pressure him while he is batting. Pakistan is trying different keepers in recent matches but their batting performances are not as good as Kamran Akmal so if he work on his wicket keeping he can become the regular member of Pakistan cricket team in all three formats of the game.
